Nodular fasciitis of the cheek: a diagnostic challenge

Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a rare, benign, self-limiting tumor composed of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. A NF frequently arises in the extremities or trunk, and less commonly in the head and neck region. A NF is characterized by its rapid growth, rich cellularity, and high mitotic activity; in addition, it may be misdiagnosed as a sarcoma. A rare case of NF of the cheek in a 38-year-old male patient is presented. The location of this NF was unusual, suggesting NF be included among the differential diagnoses of soft tissue tumors or inflammatory conditions of the cheek. A vestibular surgical approach was carried out to remove the NF and prevent scar formation in our patient.
