Inverted papilloma (IP) of the maxillary sinus is a common, benign tumour with controversial recurrence rates. Endoscopic endonasal techniques are primarily used to address this type of tumour. In addition to classical endoscopic medial maxillectomy, the pre-lacrimal approach has been described in the literature. We present a retrospective study of 16 patients with primary or recurrent IP of the maxillary sinus treated with the pre-lacrimal endoscopic endonasal technique. After a median follow-up period of 32.3 months, no patient showed signs of recurrent disease. Thus, the prelacrimal approach is shown to be an effective method with limited patient morbidity in the treatment of IP.
